Touch ‘n Go eWallet adds SafeTrip to its insurance offerings

Touch ‘n Go Group, via TNG Digital Sdn Bhd (“TNG Digital”), owner and operator of Touch ‘n Go eWallet, today announced the launch of SafeTrip, its second insurance product collaboration with leading insurer AIA Malaysia (“AIA”).

SafeTrip is a travel insurance plan for both domestic and international travel. It covers travel inconvenience, medical expenses, personal accidents, and comes with extra COVID-19 protection. It also gives international travellers an option to top-up their coverage for medical expenses related to COVID-19 to up to RM250,000 in total, enabling them to satisfy travel requirements of their destination country.

“As Hari Raya festival approaches, the introduction of this second insurance product is timely as we expect to see more Malaysians making plans to make up for lost time to reunite with their loved ones domestically and internationally. Moreover, SafeTrip is affordable and convenient to sign up. It offers Touch ‘n Go eWallet users a rebate of up to 25% on domestic and international plans” said Effendy Shahul Hamid, Group CEO, Touch ‘n Go Group.

SafeTrip costs just RM3 per day for domestic trips and RM10 per day for short trips in most Asian countries. Besides enjoying a rebate of up to 25% on their premiums for domestic plans and selected international destinations, Touch ‘n Go eWallet users will also receive an additional premium discount of 5% if they travel in a group of five and more.

Touch ‘n Go has been expanding its value-added services and has now included travel insurance as well. Users can buy this product directly from their Touch ‘n Go eWallet.  Just select the travel destination, travel date, and the number of travellers to get a quotation instantly. Once payment is completed via the eWallet, users will be covered the moment their trip starts. Submitting a claim is also easier and faster as the entire process from claims submission to instant claims payout is performed online.

TNG Digital and AIA announced their long-term strategic partnership in July 2021, paving the way for AIA to provide digital insurance solutions to users of Touch ‘n Go eWallet, Malaysia’s largest eWallet company. In November 2021, they introduced the first insurance product, WalletSafe – a 6-month insurance plan that provides Touch ‘n Go eWallet users with additional protection for unauthorised transactions performed on their eWallet and GO+ accounts, up to RM25,000. It also covers death caused by accident or COVID-19, paying up to ten times the balance amount in their Touch ‘n Go eWallet (at a maximum of RM25,000).
